Mom Slides Into The Sea From A Yacht And Right Into The Path Of A Shark

When celebrating a friends birthday, this Florida mom got more than she meant to bite off when taking a dip!

Florida mom, Iso Machado, got more than she bargained for when she took a ride down a slide while vacationing in the Bahamas last week.

Celebrating the birthday of a friend, the group were taking turns going down an inflatable slide and into the stunning blue water below.

The incident was recorded by a fellow passenger and friend of her son, Kevan Sarota. It all starts innocently enough, but when Machado surfaces, she comes face to face with a shark!

Sarota said in an interview with Jam Press: “As she was going down one of the crew members yelled and pointed from the deck below which caught all of our attention.”

“As the shark approached we couldn’t figure out what type it was.”

Kevan explained: “We were worried and immediately jumped in to make sure Iso was okay when it changed directions but she remained calm and it bumped her then continued on its way.”

Machado can be heard saying "woo" as she makes a splash. That's when her son Anthony noticed the shark swimming towards her.

“Oh my God, oh my God, Mom! Don't freak out, don't freak out,” exclaims her son. “Wait, this isn't funny.”

In what became a bit of a birthday surprise, Machado was reportedly delighted to meet the sea creature.

It is believed that the creature was an 8-foot nurse shark. Although all sharks are carnivorous, nurse sharks fall into a category of laid back, easy-going sharks that prefer to swim awhile and then rest awhile. Nurse sharks (Ginglymostoma cirratum) may in fact be considered the "couch potato" of the shark world.

“She was actually really happy and felt lucky to see one so close,” Sarota said.

The incredible footage has since garnered an impressive 3.4 million views on Instagram.
