Little Dylan Groves was just four moths old when he was found dead in a 30-foot well in Otway, Ohio this June. It wasn't far from where his parents, Jessica and Daniel Groves, lived.

Scioto County Children Services was awarded legal custody of Dylan shortly after he was born after learning he was born with illicit drugs in his system. Dylan was later placed back into the custody of his biological father after he completed all of the requirements for family unification as requested.

When the father, Daniel Groves, started missing court dates, home visits and doctor appointments for the child, a search began for Dylan. When police approached the residence, both Dylan's mother and father fled the scene on a four wheeler to avoid apprehension.

Jessica was later apprehended without incident from the residence while Daniel Groves barricaded himself inside. A 6 hour long standoff ultimately resulted in his apprehension.

Detectives then stated that they had reason to believe that the missing child, Dylan Groves was deceased and had been since approximately late March 2019. Cadaver dogs searched a wooded area where detectives have received information that the baby was taken and left after death.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini later announced that detectives from his office had recovered the body of the missing baby Dylan Groves. He was located in a well that appeared to be about 30 foot deep. Otway Fire Department were able to recover the body from the bottom of the well. The body was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

Both parents were indicted for Aggravated Murder, Murder, Kidnapping, Endangering Children, Tampering with Evidence, Interference with Custody, Gross Abuse of a Corpse, and four counts of Felonious Assault. Captain John W. Murphy stated that if the couple is found guilty on all counts they face up to life in prison.

The Scioto County Coroner's Office released the autopsy results to WSAZ on Thursday.

According to the autopsy report, Groves had several different bone fractures. The report states the baby's body was wrapped in plastic bags with duct tape around them.
The report goes on to say that his body was placed in milk crates bound by chains, pad locks, zip ties and metal wires.
It says the crates were weighted down with rocks and an iron-anchor type weight.

The coroner stated in the report that based on her findings, her opinion is that Groves' cause of death is 'homicidal violence.'

The autopsy also indicated that Dylan died with drugs in his system, including methamphetamine and amphetamine. However, the full toxicology report is not being released. Jessica and Daniel Groves are scheduled to go on trial in January.
