Mackenzie Makatche, is a Delco or, Delaware County dog mom of nine Newfoundland doggos.
She is basically living the dream as she documents her pet parenting journey for more than 56,000 followers on Instagram.
Yes, you read that right. Mackenzie Makatche lives with nine huge fluffy Newfoundlands.
Makatche's mother hopes to turn her Newfondlands into the therapy dog team her mother once dreamed of. She really wanted to start a therapy organization to visit people in the hospital,” Makatche, 28, said to The Philadelphia Inquirer .“Little did she know that she was going to be one of those people.”
Makatche’s mom, Diedre, was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer in the fall of 2016. The dogs were first able to comfor the lady who dreamed of them comforting others. Sadly, she did not survive.
“If it weren’t for the dogs, there would be so many days that I would’ve stayed in bed after my mom died,” Makatche said. “They gave me so many smiles when I needed to smile.”
Now, through breeding and adoption, she’s up to nine Newfs — Guinness, Murphy, Storm, Skyy, Aisling, Oliver, Belle, Duncan, and Coeli — and is working to train them all as therapy dogs. Three have completed the training and two are in the training process.
Now with quarantine sweeping the nation, I can't help but feel a little jealous of this lucky lady with 9 enormous dogs to keep her company!
