Taylor Swift has joined the ranks of American celebrities who have come forward and used their platforms to speak out about politics and endorse a candidate.
On October 7, 2020, in preparation for the 2020 vice presidential debate, the uber popular songwriter endorsed the democratic candidates with custom cookies, of course.
This is not the first time for her - in 2018 Swift endorsed two Democratic candidates in her home state of Tennessee, breaking a years-long policy of keeping her politics to herself.
At the time she wrote : "In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions. I feel very differently about that now. I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG."
“I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent.”
This time around, Swift spoke with V Magazine saying:
“I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election. Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs.”
