The music mogul thanked fans and medical staff, AGT will go on without him.
Simon Cowell is known as a celebrity judge and the man behind such his shows as America's Got Talent, X-Factor and American Idol, to name a few.
He was taken to hospital on Saturday, August 8, 2020, following an accident on his electric bike at his home.
“Simon has broken his back in a number of places” after falling from the new bike he’d been testing in the courtyard of his Malibu home Saturday, a representative said to AP . Family members were present.
Cowell was taken to an unspecified hospital where he remained under observation following a six-hour surgery during which a metal rod was placed in his back.
Even though he must be in pain, Cowell was able to send a tweet to his fans, thanking them for all the kind messages and offering some advice, "If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time."
He goes on to thank all the nurses and doctors who treated him, saying they were "some of the nicest people I have ever met".
Unfortunately, it is not immediately clear what will happen in the new season of NBC's “America’s Got Talent.” It appears that the live shows will begin tomorrow, August 11, 2020, without him.
Sofia Vergara, one of the hosts, shared a photo on Instagram saying "We miss our boss!! Come back fast" as Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel point to Simon's empty chair with her.
Using the same photo, Heidi Klum echoed Vergara's sentiments with an Instagram post of her own , writing: "Wishing you a speedy recovery @simoncowell."
Cowell's partner, Lauren Silverman was with him at the hospital and has been able to briefly see him. It is believed that the couple's young son and Silverman's child from a previous marriage were with him at the time of the accident.
