Orange Dot At The Top Of iPhone Shows If Phone Is 'Listening Or Watching'

If you are concerned about your privacy then this new feature is good to be aware of.

If you are an iPhone user then Apple has installed a new feature that you will find useful.

Especially if you are concerned about your privacy.

How many times have you felt like your phone is listening to you? At this point in time, we have all had a moment when after discussing a wedding or maybe a trip, only to immediately see an ad for said wedding or trip.

"Privacy is a fundamental human right and at the core of everything we do, reads the Apple website . "That’s why with iOS 14, we’re giving you more control over the data you share and more transparency into how it’s used."

"What you share from those experiences, and who you share it with, should be up to you. We design Apple products to protect your privacy and give you control over your information. It’s not always easy. But that’s the kind of innovation we believe in."

As part of its iOS 14 update, Apple will be showing a small dot on your phone screen if an app is using your microphone or camera.

Apple is calling it the recording indicator. Basically, an indicator appears at the top of your screen whenever an app is using your microphone or camera. And in Control Center, you can see if an app has used them recently.

An orange dot means that an app on your phone is using the microphone. The microphone is being listened to and could be recorded. if you are using Siri, you shouldn't be too concerned because you know the phone uses your microphone. However, this new feature allows us to see if the microphone is being used when it shouldn't be.

A green dot in the same space tells you that your camera is being accessed and could be recording you.

The feature will work for both Apple apps as well as third party ones

If the orange or green dot appears, you can swipe down for details about which app is using the camera or mic.

You can also go into your device’s Control Centre to see which apps have used the camera or microphone recently.
