Hamilton star Miguel Cervantes' three-year-old daughter Adelaide has died days after she was placed in hospice care.
Mother, Kelly Cervantes, shared a powerful image with this message on Social media:
"The machines are off. Her bed is empty. The quiet is deafening. Adelaide left us early Saturday. She went peacefully in her mother's arms, surrounded by love. Finally, she is free from pain + seizures but leaves our hearts shattered. We love you so much Adelaideybug and forever after 💔💜"
In an interview with PEOPLE last week, the couple got candid as they prepared for Adelaide to go to hospice. “She is a warrior. I have never met someone stronger in my life," says Kelly.
Adelaide had her first seizure when she was just 7 months old.
Thanks to a good team of doctors, they were quickly able to determine that the seizure was in fact, the result of epilepsy. It wasn't long before little Adelaid was further diagnosed with infantile spasms (IS.). All this happened at the same time her father landed the role of a lifetime. He plays Alexander Hamilton in the Chicago production of Hamilton.
“We didn’t realize her life would be this short,”says Kelly to PEOPLE. “We have been flailing around for so long. There is only so much we can do for Adelaide. We are grateful for every single day we have had with her.”
Rest in paradise little Adelaide.
The family will announce a celebration of life for Adelaide in the near future
