As am sure you are aware, Britney Spears lives in conservatorship with her father, Jamie Spears, that went into effect in 2008.
It might be easy to forget as time has gone on, but Britney has suffered some major mental health scares over the years. Remember her driving with a baby in her lap? that time she shaved her head? When she spoke with a British accent or when she was wheeled out of her Beverly Hills mansion on a stretcher? I'm sure her family hasn't. The conservatorship is not typical, 12 years is a long time for one to last, however this one is permanent. Following being committed to a psychiatric ward, twice, in 2008, Jamie Spears was able to get a “temporary conservatorship”. The L.A. County Superior Court granted him an emergency conservatorship that was made permanent by the end of the year.
Over the years there has been a lot of speculation about her father's role in her life and it has spurred a movement that fans call #FreeBritney. Under the conservatorship, Britney can't drive a car, spend her own money, or even use social media, without getting permission first.
Over the past few weeks, Britney has been sharing some strange content on her Instagram and this has seen a surprise in the #FreeBritney movement.
Captioning the picture above, in which admittedly she does not look at her best, "the natural light always reveals the magic in the eyes ☀️👀💋 !!!!!! Ps no photoshop on this photo !!!!!!" A fan theory surfaced as people think they can see 911 under her left eye. "For anyone who can’t see it, DM me for a zoomed-in photo of the 911 with the exposure dropped so you can see it more clearly," reads the top comment.
I looked closely and can't see a thing. I'm not an expert at photoshop or anything but I was not able to see anything.
A second image was shared among fans, this one stems from a video shared in May, where Spears dances around in a red shirt with a white hat.
She seems to be pointing at something on the hat.
Again people turned to photoshop. Though there does appear to be words written on the hat, I am not able to make them out.
"I screenshot the original video, reversed it (as selfie camera has it backwards + she always wears a ring on her left ring finger even though she’s not engaged/married), and zoomed in. When I re-uploaded it, it effected the resolution and made it hard to read. Do it, and see for yourself."
Following all this, Andrew Gallery released a five-part series on his TikTok in support of the #FreeBritney movement. He was her former photographer and explains that he was 'compelled' to speak up by the #FreeBritney movement and fans continued worries about her well-being.
'We were on tour together, spent every day together for, you know, a while. And in that time, she gave me a letter that she wanted me to read to you guys,' he told his TikTok followers.
Gallery said that the original had been 'destroyed' by Britney's conservators, but said he was able to make a copy.
A report published by TMZ on July 17, 2020, disputes the #FreeBritney movement. After reporting on the story for two years, they claim the reality is that Britney is struggling and not well. Doctors have not been able to find the right combination of medications for her and the ones she was taking before have stopped working. "Sources with direct knowledge tell us she's not been easy to deal with," says TMZ . "She sometimes complains she wants more freedom. Short story -- she hasn't been especially stable managing her mental illness."
A source very close to Britney made a very apt observation when speaking to TMZ: "These people who are screaming for the conservatorship to end, well if that happened and she hurt herself or died 2 weeks after would these people utter a peep? No way."
