A man from Thunder Bay, Ontario, was reunited with his dog, Jack, four years after the husky and shepherd mix ran away from his home after an animal hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, found the pup and took efforts to track down his human.
“He was always more than just a pet, or a dog to me,” said Mike Plas.
“We did everything together -- we went fishing together, went hunting together, he came to work with me half the time. I’d take time off work to celebrate his birthday with him.”
Plas said he spent years posting about Jack, hoping he would be found and returned. He had no idea where he might have ended up.
"Some days I'd get really upset, when I'm missing him a lot. But I never lost hope," said Plas.
After four years, he was finally given the good news he so desparately wanted. Centennial Animal Hospital in Winnipeg, over 400 miles away, found aJack on a road near the hopsital and brought him in.
"They said they got a dog there and the microchip said he was mine," said Plas.
Of course, Plas made the trip to go pick up his long lost best friend in Winnipeg.

"It was more joyful than anything I could ever experience again, I think," said Plas. "It's like my life went back to the way it was, the way it's supposed to be."
What a wonderful happy ending! Mike says he's spending lots of time cuddling and catching up with Jack and is looking forward to bringing him on a fishing trip!
