The cruel comments began to roll in after she posted a photo recreating one her father took when her mother was pregnant.
Bindi Irwin is no stranger to the spotlight. As the daughter of the infamous Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, she has been in the public eye for the better part of her life.
In July 2019, Bindi Irwin became engaged to Chandler Powell, who is an American professional wakeboarder from Florida. The couple first met as teenagers at Australia Zoo in 2013. On 25 March 2020, they married in a private ceremony at Australia Zoo. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were no guests in attendance.
"Chandler and I are proud to announce that we’re expecting! It’s an honour to share this special moment in our lives with you. Though I’m still in my first trimester, we really want you to be part of our journey from the beginning of this new life chapter. We couldn’t wait to share the news as this beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives. Your support means the world to us. Please let me know your best advice and send good vibes & prayers to our little sweetheart. Love & light. ❤️"
Fans speculated that if the baby is a boy, he will definitely be called Steve. He had immense pride and love for his little girl and I know he must surely be watching over his family from above.
Since the big announcement, the 22-year-old pregnant wildlife conservationist has been posting pregnancy pics and documenting her journey. They used pink flowers to reveal the sex of their upcoming arrival. “Baby girl, you are our world,” Bindi captioned her Instagram post. “Our beautiful daughter is now about the same size as a hatchling Aldabra tortoise and is as healthy as can be. We can’t wait for her arrival next year.”
In her most recent post, Bindi shared a sweet photo of her husband Chandler Powell, kissing her bare baby belly on Instagram.
She also included a comparison photo of herself and her late father doing the same when her mother Terri was pregnant with her brother Robert.
"Recreating a very special moment. Third trimester love," she captioned the sweet post, including a red love heart emoji.
While most fans loved the photo comparison and shared celebratory messages, not everybody liked it.
As people now feel they have the right to do, the comment section soon became a battleground. "It's a little weird but in a good way how much Bindi's husband looks like her dad," wrote one fan. "When I saw him standing like that my first thought was: “That Looks Like Steve!”," wrote another. The trend continued with some saying they found the couple imitating Steve to be sick and just wrong and even that they need their own lives as this was just creepy.
For the most part, though, fans were kind and congratulated the happy couple.
Bindi seems to be taking it in stride, she posted a beautiful moment to offer peace and tranquility to us all.
