Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders canceled all appearances and events until further notice on Wednesday after undergoing procedure for artery blockage. He is currently recovering in hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"During a campaign event yesterday evening, Sen. Sanders experienced some chest discomfort. Following medical evaluation and testing he was found to have a blockage in one artery and two stents were successfully inserted," says Sanders' senior adviers, Jeff Weaver.
Weaver also said, "Sen. Sanders is conversing and in good spirits. He will be resting up over the next few days. We are cancelling his events and apperances until further notice, and we will continue to provide appropriate updates."
Sanders, 78, the oldest remaining Democratic candidate (Joe Biden is 76). He had recently been overtaken in the polls by Senator Elizabeth Warren.
We will have to wait and see what he intends to do for the remainder of the race once he has receovered.
In a tweet, Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., called him a 'fighter', wishing him a 'speedy recovery.'
Thinking of @BernieSanders today and wishing him a speedy recovery. If there's one thing I know about him, he's a fighter and I look forward to seeing him on the campaign trail soon.— Kamala Harris (@KamalaHarris) October 2, 2019
Regardless of political leanings, at this time as Americans, let us all pray for his health and a quick recovery.
