It has been a week since the grandson of the late Elvis Presley died.
Lisa Marie Presley married Chicago-born musician Danny Keough on October 3, 1988. The couple had two children: a daughter, Danielle Riley Keough, and a son, Benjamin Storm Keough. Their grandparents, of course, are Elvis and Priscilla Presley.
Lisa Marie’s rep, Roger Widynowski, issued a statement through People to confirm that Benjamin had passed away.
“She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley,” Roger said. “She adored that boy. He was the love of her life.”
Following the news of his death, the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office revealed news from the autopsy. The cause of death for the 27-year-old was “an intraoral shotgun injury.” His manner of death is listed as “suicide”. In an exclusive report from DailyMail , it has been alleged that Benjamin Keough put a shotgun in his mouth and pulled the trigger in the $1.8 million mansion belonging to his family, in Calabasas. He is said to have locked himself in a bathroom in the early hours of Sunday.
The current girlfriend of Keough was identified as the 911 caller. Her name is Diana Pinto and was heard screaming "Don't do it," in the moments leading up to his death.
The Presley family has been largely silent since the news of Benjamin's death broke. Neither Lisa Marie or Priscilla Presley have posted on social media and no further statements have been made. Riley Keough broke the family silence on Saturday with an emotional post for her brother on Instagram.
"There are no words for you. Angel is the closest I could think of," she begins. "Pure light. Baby brother. Best friend. Wild man. Intellectual. Witness to my life. Twin soul. Protector. Too sensitive for this harsh world. I hope you give me strength to endure the giant hole you’ve left in my heart."
Today, Diana Pinto has made a post in remembrance of the young man to whom she devoted the last few years of her life.
It begins, "To the most beautiful boy I have ever seen. You make everyone around you light up the second you step into the room. You touch every single soul around you."
"You love your Sunday morning toons and chocolate milk. I promise to always honor you on Fancy Fridays. Your laugh is heard all over the world now. You made me the luckiest girl in the world, to have you, to hold you, to love you and to be loved by you are the only things that have ever mattered. You are my whole world and my whole life, you live with me now every day in my heart, in my soul and in my mind. My travel partner. My best friend. I will cherish all the memories we’ve made together and keep them close to my heart. I feel your silliness within me still making me laugh. Every second of every day I think of you, now I know the true meaning of grief. Please give me strength to keep going because I don’t know how I’m supposed to do this life without you."
You will always be the love of my life, my everything.
No funeral arrangements have been made public as of yet.
