Faye Marie Swetlik was missing from the Churchill Heights Neighborhood in Cayce.
The Cayce Department of Public Safety relentlessly searched for the missing first grader who was last seen at around 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
Allegedly, Faye got off the school bus which dropped her off in her neighborhood and was playing in front of her house on Londonberry Lane before she went missing. It was only after 5 p.m. that the family notified authorities.
Unfortunately, Director Byron Snellgrove updated the community and media with some terrible news this afternoon.
The body of Faye Swetlik has been found.
“It is with extremely heavy hearts that we have found a body that the coroner has identified as Faye Marie Swetlik,” Cayce Department of Public Safety Director Byron Snellgrove announced.
The case is being treated as a homicide and thus begins the investigation into it. The Cayce Department of Public Safety, along with local, state and federal law enforcement partners, plan to continue and work together and bring this case to a close.
Director Byron Snellgrove also announced that there was a seperate male body discovered and a seperate investigation has started. There was no identity revealed for the male victim and they were not taking any questions at this time.
If you have any information that would assist in the investigation the #FayeSwetlik Hotline is still operational and our work is ongoing. Please call 803-205-4444 with tips.
